Padding Buckets

Screen and prepare the padding material on-site

REMU Padding Buckets are designed to fulfill the requirements of challenging pipeline and trench backfilling projects as well as padding cable and utility line excavations in the most demanding environments

Efficient Backfilling and Material Separation On-Site

A padding bucket is an essential excavator attachment designed for screening and separating fine materials directly on the job site. Whether you’re building pipelines, burying cables, installing utilities, or backfilling trenches in challenging environments, a padding bucket helps you work faster, cleaner, and more efficiently. It allows operators to reuse existing excavated material by filtering out rocks, debris, and oversized particles, delivering only consistent, fine fill where precision matters.

Environmental and Operational Efficiency

In addition to productivity, padding buckets support more sustainable job site practices. On large projects or in remote areas, this efficiency translates into significant savings and a smaller environmental footprint.

Reduced hauling

Reuse native material instead of importing new fill

Lower emissions

Fewer machines and transport trips

Cleaner sites

No large stockpiles or waste left behind

Improved safety

Fewer machines operating simultaneously

What can you do with our padding buckets?

Oil and gas pipelines
Padding buckets are easy to transport onsite wherever they are needed. REMU Padding Buckets are also available with number of different blade configurations to ensure that your padding material meets the requirements.

Utility lines
In certain environments a padding bucket is the only option. When a utility line was laid up a ski slope in Aspen, the padding bucket was the most convenient way to prepare padding material.

Cable excavations
The number of padding buckets working on cable excavations is increasing as more and more cables are buried underground to improve reliability of power distribution grids. This bucket was used for padding cables near a newly established windmill park.

Q&A on our Padding Buckets

No, a brief introduction to good screening practices is all you need to put this powerful tool to work for you.

Yes, blade spacing of 1” (24mm) gives you a grain size of 5/8” (16mm) which is normally required for padding material. This is the most requested blade configuration for pipeline padding. A number of other grain sizes are available, and our sales team is happy to assist you to choose the best option.

Our padding buckets are designed to be extremely durable and eliminate all the extra problems you don’t need when working in a remote location. The frame of the bucket is made to last even when you need to move those large rocks.

In the USA, buckets are available for rent. Please contact our US Sales team for more information.

Daily field maintenance means checking just two service points.

Padding Bucket Models

EX 140

For 200 class excavators

This bucket is our oldest model and still a best seller. Updated recently with modern wear resistant steel and thicker cutting edge for extra strength. It has a simple and highly durable structure.

PD 2160

For 250 class excavators

The extra strong frame was designed to stand up to the hardest use when a screening bucket is the only available tool. A separate, powerful direct drive motor for each rotor. Quick and easy maintenance procedures give you more production time.

PD 3160

For 300 class excavators

The extra strong frame was designed to stand up to the hardest use when a screening bucket is the only available tool. A separate, powerful direct drive motor for each rotor. Quick and easy maintenance procedures give you more production time.

High-Performance Padding Buckets for Trenching and Backfilling

At REMU, we manufacture high-performance padding buckets for excavators designed for demanding trenching and backfilling applications across construction, infrastructure, energy and utility sectors. Our padding buckets are hydraulically driven screening attachments that process excavated material on-site, separating coarse particles from fine fill suitable for bedding and backfilling around pipes, cables and underground utilities. Built specifically for continuous trenching workflows, they combine durability, productivity and precise material control in real-world conditions.

While often referred to as pipeline buckets, padding buckets are used far beyond pipeline construction. Contractors rely on them for utility installations, municipal infrastructure, roadwork, renewable energy projects, agricultural drainage and landscaping. By screening and reusing native material directly at the excavation site, padding buckets eliminate the need for external screening units, reduce material transport and deliver consistent, void-free backfill with fewer machines, lower costs and reduced environmental impact.

REMU padding buckets are engineered for long-term performance in harsh environments. Heavy-duty construction, efficient screening rotors and service-friendly designs ensure high throughput, low maintenance and reliable operation across varying soil conditions. Available in multiple sizes and screen configurations, they can be matched precisely to excavator classes and project requirements. With decades of experience in screening technology, REMU delivers padding buckets that improve productivity, enhance job site efficiency and provide dependable results wherever clean, controlled backfill is required.

Built to Fit Your Workflow

When you choose Remu, you’re not just buying equipment — you’re investing in a tool designed with flexibility, efficiency, and longevity in mind. Whether you need a dedicated pipeline bucket or a multipurpose solution for general trench backfilling, we have a model tailored to your workflow.
