New job report: REMU XO2150 used for padding a trench in mountains.

Economical and environmental friendly working process, where excavated material is screened and recycled as a padding material, is getting more and more popular. For HDPE pipe laying projects in a mountain area, Eiffage Energie has adopted the REMU screening bucket for processing 5000m³ of materials for the coated layer.

‍As part of HDPE pipe laying works, Eiffage Energie Systèmes Réseaux & Solutions has used the services of RDS France for the acquisition of a REMU screening bucket for padding the trench.

‍The project initiated by RTE, and located in the mid-mountain area (between 900 and 1100 m altitude), has consisted of the opening of a 14-kilometers trench (width 720 mm / average depth 1800 mm) and laying of 3 HDPE pipes diameter 225 mm. The installation casing, pulled by the trencher, allowed to lay the pipes and pad the coated layer simultaneously.

‍The volume of the coating zone was 0.4 m³ / linear meter, corresponding to more than 5000 m³ of materials screened with a grain size of 0-20 mm.

The capacity and performance of REMU XO 2150 bucket mounted on a 9-tons excavator was perfectly compatible with the speed of excavation. It enabled to recycle and valorize the materials on site, while respecting the defined grain size and the thermal properties of the materials.

FYI:

  • RTE is a service company that manages the high voltage electricity transmission public network in France.
  • Eiffage Énergie, alongside Clemessy and Clemessy Services, is the Energy division of the Eiffage Group, the third largest group of French public works and concessions.
